New Sellers Consignments Get started
Buying vintage sewing patterns and embroidery transfers should be easy -- and so should selling them. The Sewing Palette helps maximize your sales by giving buyers an efficient way to purchase from multiple sellers.
It's a simple system. Customers shop, checkout and pay the Sewing Palette. We forward a packing list to each seller, who ships out the item(s) ordered and updates the order info online. We send the sales price (minus our fee) and the shipping allowance to the seller.
That's easy enough, but there are lots of other advantages for sellers:
Lightning quick listings
Our database of vintage pattern information cuts your listing time considerably. Tell us the maker, number, year, size, condition and price. Upload at least one photo; add more photos and text if you like. And you're done!
See sample page
Worry-free payments
Customer payments go to us first, so you'll never have to worry about bad check fees or frustrating form emails for real or imaginary disputes.
Excellent exposure
Buyers can find your items in many different ways:
- Online catalog pages for shopping by categories.
- Quickshop for all items in stock, with popular filters such as bust size.
- Item detail pages show similar patterns if that one is unavailable. See sample page
- Automatic buyer notification when you post an item on their Wishlist.
- Standard site search engine
Customize your listings and presence
Arrange photos and additional information about your patterns the way you want. Add a "search for my patterns" button. Add a special page or two about yourself. Need help? Just ask!
Clear, consistent standards for all
One seller's carelessness reflects badly on every seller, so there are certain basic things you
must do to sell at the Sewing Palette. As an established seller, you're probably already doing them:
Find more information in the Sellers Handbook available April 15th.
- Item availability: If you offer an item for sale somewhere else, remove your Sewing Palette listing first.
- Photos: One of your photos must show the edges of the pattern envelope, transfer envelope or leaflet. We'll work with you on this if you're transferring listings from another site.
- Pattern checking: Check used sewing patterns to ensure the correct number of pattern pieces are present. Check transfers by unfolding them. Check leaflets by turning each page. List unchecked items only in lots.
- Disclosures: Disclose any water damage; tape repairs; odor treatments; tears longer than 1/2 inch; cut-outs, missing pieces or pages; and damage not shown in the photos.
- Packaging: Ship items in waterproof packaging with a cardboard backer (unless the package is sturdy enough without a backer that it won't get bent.)
- Shipping times: Ship orders within two business days of notification (packing list sent Monday, items shipped by Wednesday evening). Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays do not count as business days.
- Customer service: Courteously acknowledge emails within one business day.

Consignments
Busy? We can sell one pattern or a hundred for you on consignment. Here's how it works:
- You send us group photos of the patterns and set a minimum price.
- We'll recommend the best listing method (individual, lots or a combination).
- Both of us sign a consignment agreement, and you ship the patterns to us.
- We take care of the listing and packing and shipping items when they sell.
- You get a check for the proceeds (sales price minus our commission).
Another option is our wholesale lot service. We'll provide your pattern photos and contact information to all sellers at the Sewing Palette for a low, flat fee. Anyone who's interested will get in touch and you negotiate the price and shipping directly.
Check with us about consigning your items using the Consignment Inquiry form.
