The Art of Fashion

One of the joys of pattern collecting is the wonderful array of graphics used to illustrate the envelopes. Fashion drawings capture and highlight the subtle details of the garment's style, while at the same time imparting a certain "feel" that photographs often lack.

Our favorites include the scenic art used by McCall's during the 1940s (like the bridal gown pattern here) and the 1920s Butterick children's patterns that include toys in the graphics.

Got favorites? Let us know. We're working on some theme pages and would love your input.
